Lexie Jo Sweeney was born and raised in Arizona. She is a dancer, choreographer, teacher and creative artist. She received her BA in dance performance with a minor in art with high honors, Summa Cum Laude in May 2014 from Oral Roberts University. Since then, she remains in residence in Tulsa. She utilizes her degree and passion for dance by choreographing small dance works, often collaborating with other artists, filmmakers and creatives. In her work, Lexie creates, and often performs a tangible embodiment of the beauty and elegance that can be found in movement. "There is nothing more fulfilling than creating art for the enjoyment of others to see again and again," she says.

Lexie Jo is trained and practices Laban Bartenieff modern movement technique and has a rich love of all modern, ballet and contemporary dance techniques. She currently teaches dance at Tulsa Dance Company.  Lexie has danced and performed with local dance companies Living Water Dance Company, Tulsa Modern Movement, Oklahoma Movement and Kin Dance Company. Sweeney was a presenting artist in the Exchange Choreography Festival for three years and served on the board of the Oklahoma Dance Film Festival (OkDFF). She is currently dancing with Kin Dance and Oklahoma Movement. Lexie’s work in the studio and on the stage strives to bring light and joy with honesty while honoring the body, mind and spirit.
