Program for ‘Inspired by Burton’

*This show is dedicated to our friend, Bruce Lewis, who helped us hand select many of the costumes. His love of the strange and unusual, his aesthetic, his style and his hugs will be greatly missed.

Whose Puppet Are You?
A dynamic interaction between control and influence. In this world, the strings that bind us can both confine and liberate, prompting us to question who or what pulls the strings in our own lives. Highlighting the interconnected nature of all beings, we reflect on how individual actions ripple through the web of existence, influencing and being influenced by the larger tapestry of life. We explore a realm where the lines between the real and the imagine are fluid. Through elements interwoven with everyday scenarios, this interplay allows us to examine how our perceptions shape our understanding of the world, illustrating Tim Burton’s idea that “one person’s craziness is another person’s reality.” I pose a thought-provoking question: Whose puppet are you? Consider the ways in which your life is influenced by external forces and how you, in turn, shape the world around you. Embrace the dance between reality and imagination, and discover the magic that lies within the fabric of everyday life."

On Wednesday we wear black
On Wednesday We Wear Black" is inspired by Tim Burton's version of Wednesday Addams. The piece captures her experience of moving to a new school and being an outcast among outcasts. The characters' suspicious and combative nature creates conflict, yet ultimately leads to mutual respect toward fellow students. Even being an outcast among outcasts, sometimes we can realize that, on Wednesday, we all wear black.
